Side Scrolling Action RPG Engine (WIP) UPDATE
posted on Sat, Jun 12 2010 by The Cecil0 comments
I haven't been able to modify the custom platform engine to run any faster.

It is only using 10 loops per frame for the platform engine (The engine is qualifier based so anything that is platform related just goes into the engine qualifier and works with any platforming aspects, i.e. has gravity, platform collisions, ability to move left and right, and jump, etc.) but because it has to do stuff for every object in the qualifier, the more platformable objects that are on screen, the more processing power it uses, which flash seems to be having a hard time with.

I may have to save this engine for a later EXE only game.

If you know of any trickery to get more objects on screen, using less processing power, be it using a more sophisticated CPM that uses less/no fastlooping, or a faster method than using qualifiers, Let me know in the comments.

  Gamebuilder Show Skype Chat
posted on Mon, Apr 19 2010 by The Cecil3 comments
I was a part of www.gamebuilder.info's new GameBuilder Show Skype Chat. I am an admin over at gamebuilder, and it was very fun and interesting to participate in a podcast type show with the other admins, and contributors of the site.

During the show we talk about what we are playing, the mysterious MMF3D extension and what that means for the future of mmf, the new swf flash exporter and the other possible exporters that may (or may not) be in the works by clickteam, and the future of Gamebuilder competitions.

  MMF2 Stack/Queue Widget
posted on Tue, Mar 09 2010 by The Cecil0 comments
Now Available for Download

Failing to find a decent Stack or Queue (there is "queue object" but it has no peek or flush functionality) extension for mmf2 i made this widget to carry out stack and queue tasks for me.

Uses only the list object. Widget code is in the "Stack/Queue Widget" list object. copy and past the object into any mmf2 application to utilize it.

2 behavior modes
-stack
-queue

2 data modes
-strings
-numbers

abilities
-push data (insert number or string into stack/queue)
-pop data (stack - LIFO. queue - FIFO. removes from list)
-peek data (stack - LIFO. queue - FIFO. does not remove from list)
-flush data (clears stack/queue)

Failing to come to a complete stop at a T-Junction when making a right turn... wait what?

"Some T junctions are controlled by traffic lights, but others rely upon drivers to obey right-of-way rules. For example, a vehicle travelling on the major roads of the "T" typically has right-of-way, meaning that the vehicle approaching the "major" road must allow it to pass before joining the flow of traffic."

"allow it to pass" = yield

"In the context of traffic laws, yield means to slow or stop to allow another vehicle to proceed ahead of you."

I Slowed down at the t-junction and there were NO other cars.

INVALID CITATION!! >:|

and Failing to come to a complete stop at a stop sign.

law states that a complete stop is "speedometer is at 0 and there is no forward momentum"

my speedometer read 0 and i had NO momentum.

INVALID CITATION!! >:|

And to top it all off the Cop didn't even give me a ticket!!! WASTE OF MY TIME! Meanwhile my tacos are getting cold in the passenger seat!!!!!
